Prompt
Background:
What the video is about (the one point): {{topic}}
Who it is for: {{audience}}
Platform: {{platform}}
Length: {{length_seconds}} seconds
Who is on camera and how we film: {{filming_setup}}
The one thing viewers should do after watching: {{call_to_action}}

Facts, steps and details to use:

Task: Write a script for a short vertical video, with a hook, timed beats and on-screen text, that we can film with a phone.

Requirements:
- The hook is the first two seconds: a spoken line and on-screen text that show the problem or the payoff straight away. No "Hi guys", no introductions, no logo opener.
- One idea only. Cut anything that does not serve the point.
- Keep the spoken words to about 2.5 per second of video, so a 30-second script is about 75 words. Write for speaking: short sentences and contractions.
- On-screen text: under 7 words per card, readable without sound, because many people watch muted. Keep it away from the bottom and right edges, where the app's buttons and captions sit.
- Every shot must be something we can film with the setup above. No stock footage, drones or effects we did not mention.
- Ask for the call to action once, at the end.
- Suggest a type of background music, not a specific track, since trending sounds change quickly and licensing varies.

Use only the facts above. Do not add claims, numbers, results or prices that are not there.

Format: a table with the columns Time (for example 0:00 to 0:02), Shot (what we see), Spoken line, On-screen text. Then a caption under 150 characters, up to three hashtags, and two alternative hooks to test.

Example of a hook, for form only:
On-screen text: "3 mistakes on your first invoice"
Spoken line: "If your invoice looks like this, you'll wait weeks to get paid."

If the facts do not fit in the time, keep the strongest point, cut the rest and list what you cut below the script. If anything is unclear, such as a step in the material, flag it under the table instead of guessing.

Variables

{{topic}}
The one point the video makes, for example "how to tell if your tires need replacing".
{{audience}}
Who the video is for.
{{platform}}
Where it will be posted, for example Instagram Reels, TikTok or YouTube Shorts.
{{length_seconds}}
The target length, for example 30 or 45.
{{filming_setup}}
Who appears and what you can film, for example "me talking to my phone in the shop, plus close-ups of the products".
{{call_to_action}}
The one action, for example "book through the link in our bio".
{{material}}
The facts, steps, product details or offer the video should use.

Why it works

  • Length. A words-per-second budget turns the video length into a word count, so the script fits the time when you actually say it.
  • Format. A timed table of shot, spoken line and on-screen text is what you need while filming, and the on-screen text works for people watching muted.
  • What to avoid. Shots are limited to what you can film with your own setup, and music is described by type rather than by a trending track that may be gone next week.

How to use it

  1. Press Fill in variables and type your details into each blank. What you type stays in this browser.
  2. Copy the filled prompt into the AI tool you already use, such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, or open it in the Grader or the Prompt Tester here.
  3. Before you rely on it, try it on three or four real examples. The Prompt Tester runs them all at once and shows which ones go wrong.
