Full prompt and why it works
Prompt
Background:
Sender name our list knows us by: {{sender}}
Who receives this email: {{audience}}
The one thing we want readers to do: {{email_goal}}

The facts for this email (what we are announcing or offering, prices, dates, terms, link):
"""
{{offer_facts}}
"""

A past email of ours, for voice:
"""
{{voice_sample}}
"""

Task: Write a marketing email to this list, with five subject lines to test, two preview texts and one call to action.

Requirements:
- Subject lines: five, each testing a different angle: the main benefit, a specific detail from the facts, a question, the reader's problem, and the deadline only if the facts give a real one. Aim for under 50 characters, since many phones cut longer lines.
- Preview text: two options of 40 to 90 characters that add to the subject line rather than repeat it.
- Body: 120 to 220 words. The first sentence delivers what the subject line promised. Paragraphs of one to three sentences. The key details (what, price, dates, terms) should be findable in five seconds.
- One call to action: a button label of two to five words, repeated at most once as a text link with the same wording.
- State any conditions from the facts plainly, such as end dates or exclusions. Never hide them.

Do not use all capitals, "RE:" or "FWD:", or urgency such as "last chance" without a real deadline: they mislead readers, and misleading subject lines are against anti-spam rules in many countries. Do not invent discounts, scarcity, testimonials or numbers. Leave out the footer; our email tool adds the unsubscribe link and address.

The email should sound like the past email if one is given; otherwise plain, friendly and direct.

Format:
1. A table of subject lines with the columns Angle, Subject line, Characters.
2. The two preview texts.
3. The email body, with the button label in square brackets where the button goes.
4. One line naming the two subject lines to test against each other first, and what that test will tell us.

Example of a subject line row, for form only: Specific detail | "Same-day delivery now reaches [area]" | 36

If a fact the email needs is missing, such as a price, an end date or the link, write [needs: what is missing] in its place and list these at the end. Do not guess.

Variables

{{sender}}
The sender name your subscribers recognize, for example your business name or "[your first name] at [business]".
{{audience}}
Who is on this list or segment, for example "customers who bought in the last year".
{{email_goal}}
The one action you want, for example "book a spring service" or "read the new guide".
{{offer_facts}}
Everything true about what you are announcing: what it is, price, dates, terms, exclusions and the link.
{{voice_sample}}
A past email that sounded right. Leave it empty for a plain default.

Why it works

  • Format. Five subject lines, each testing a named angle with a character count, give you a real A/B test instead of five rewordings of one line.
  • What to avoid. It rules out fake urgency, "RE:" tricks and invented discounts, which mislead readers and can land your email in spam folders.
  • If unsure. A missing price, date or link is marked in place and listed at the end, so you never send a guessed detail.

How to use it

  1. Press Fill in variables and type your details into each blank. What you type stays in this browser.
  2. Copy the filled prompt into the AI tool you already use, such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, or open it in the Grader or the Prompt Tester here.
  3. Before you rely on it, try it on three or four real examples. The Prompt Tester runs them all at once and shows which ones go wrong.
