The prompt course.

Go from a one-line request to a prompt an AI cannot misread. Each short lesson teaches one thing to add, then you add it yourself in a box on the page and watch the score change as you type.

The lessons

Each lesson adds one thing a good prompt says. By the last one, your prompts pass all ten checks: level 10, Superintelligent, where the AI has nothing left to guess.

  1. 1How a model reads your promptYou will see why a model guesses when your prompt leaves something out, and how to spot those guesses before you send it.The basics6 min
  2. 2Say exactly what you want madeYou will turn a vague request into a precise task that the model cannot misread. What to make4 min
  3. 3Say who it is for and what they will do with itYou will name the reader and their purpose in one sentence, and see how it changes what the answer puts first and how long it runs.Who it's for4 min
  4. 4Give it the facts it cannot guessYou will give the model the facts only you know, set apart from your instructions, so it stops inventing plausible ones. Background facts5 min
  5. 5Set the size of the answerYou will give every answer a size in numbers, and use that size to make the model choose what matters most.Length4 min
  6. 6Name the shape you want backYou will name the format of the answer, from a table to an email, so it is ready to paste where it is going.Format4 min
  7. 7Say what to leave outYou will set the few limits that matter, each with a reason, so the model keeps out what would cause you trouble. What to avoid5 min
  8. 8Describe what a good result looks likeYou will replace wishes like “clear and professional” with a test the result has to pass. What good looks like4 min
  9. 9Show it an example to matchYou will add an example that shows the model what you want, and say which parts of it to copy.An example4 min
  10. 10Tell it what to do when something is missingYou will tell the model what to do with gaps, so it asks, marks them or says so instead of filling them with a confident guess. If unsure4 min
  11. 11Lay it out the way your model readsYou will separate the parts of a prompt and order them the way your model’s maker recommends.Layout5 min
  12. 12Put all ten checks to work on one taskYou will build one real work prompt from a single line to all ten checks, and know when a prompt needs fewer. All ten together6 min

A coach for every exercise, with Pro

The live score tells you which checks pass. With Pro, a coach also reads your prompt the way a model would and tells you, in a few lines, what it would still have to guess and how to say it. Anyone with an API key of their own can use the coach too.

Finished a lesson and want more? Prompt practice has real jobs to improve, grouped by kind of work, scored the same way.

Prefer to read first? The ten checks explains each one in a single guide, the prompt patterns cover the moves in depth, and the cheat sheet fits them on one page.
