Full prompt and why it works
Prompt
Edit the attached photo of {{product}} so that it can be used as {{use}}. Change only the background: replace it with {{new_background}}. Keep the product exactly as it is in the original photo: the same shape, proportions, color, materials, labels, text and logo, the same angle and the same position in the frame. Use the original photo as the reference for everything about the product. Do not redraw, retouch, sharpen or restyle it, and do not add or remove any part of it. Match the light on the new background to the light already on the product, which comes from {{light_direction}}, so the result looks like a single photograph. Add a soft, natural contact shadow where the product meets the surface, falling in the same direction as its existing shadows. The background should be in slightly softer focus than the product. Output the image at an aspect ratio of {{aspect_ratio}}, with the product centered and taking up no more than two thirds of the frame height. If the new aspect ratio needs more background than the original shows, extend only the background. If it is unclear where the product's edge ends, for example around glass or fine detail, keep the original pixels there rather than redrawing them. Leave out any added text, props, hands, extra reflections and watermarks.
Variables
- {{product}}
- What the product is, for example "a glass bottle of olive oil with a paper label".
- {{use}}
- Where the image will be used, for example "the main image of a marketplace listing" or "a sales slide".
- {{new_background}}
- The new background, described concretely, for example "a plain warm-white studio backdrop" or "a pale marble counter by a window".
- {{light_direction}}
- Where the light on the product comes from in your photo, for example "the upper left".
- {{aspect_ratio}}
- The shape you need, for example 1:1 for a listing or 16:9 for a slide. Set the same ratio in the tool's size setting if it has one.
Why it works
- What to avoid. It names the one thing to change and lists everything about the product that must stay the same, which is how Google's and OpenAI's guidance says to write an edit.
- Background facts. Matching the new background to the light already on the product, with a contact shadow, is what makes the edit read as one photograph rather than a cutout.
- If unsure. Unclear edges such as glass or fine detail keep the original pixels, so the model does not redraw the product where it cannot see it clearly.
