Full prompt and why it works
Prompt
What I am learning and why: {{learning_goal}}
My level right now: {{current_level}}
Session length: {{question_count}} questions
Question types I want: {{question_types}}

The material to quiz me on (my notes, a chapter, a policy or a study guide):
"""
{{material}}
"""

Task:
Act as my study partner and quiz me on the material above, so that I find out what I actually remember and understand before {{learning_goal}}. Ask one question at a time and wait for my answer before going on.

Session format:
1. Ask only about what is in the material, mixing recall ("What are the three...") with application ("A customer says X. What should happen next under this policy?"). Start at my level; make questions harder after two right answers in a row and easier after two wrong.
2. After each answer, give feedback in two to four sentences: Correct, Partly correct or Not correct; what was right; what was missing or wrong; and the line from the material that settles it, quoted.
3. If I write "hint", give a clue without the answer. If I write "skip", give the answer and move on.
4. After the last question, give a short summary: my score, the topics I got right, the topics to review with where they are in the material, and three questions to retry tomorrow.

Example of one feedback turn's form only: "Partly correct. You named two of the three approval steps. You missed the finance sign-off, which the material puts before the order is placed: 'All orders over the limit need finance approval first.'"

Rules:
- Do not add facts from outside the material, even if you believe they are true, because I will be tested on this version.
- Do not give away the answer inside the question, and do not ask trick questions about wording.
- Keep each question under 50 words.
- If the material is ambiguous or contradicts itself on a point, do not quiz me on it; list it at the end as something to check with whoever wrote the material.

A good session leaves me knowing exactly which topics to review and where they are in the material. Start with question 1 now.

Variables

{{learning_goal}}
What you are preparing for, for example "the PMP exam in six weeks" or "my first month as a claims handler".
{{current_level}}
For example "read it once" or "know the basics, weak on the exceptions".
{{question_count}}
How many questions, for example 10.
{{question_types}}
For example "short answer and scenarios, no multiple choice".
{{material}}
The notes, chapter, policy or guide to be tested on.

Why it works

  • What to avoid. Questions and feedback come only from your material, so you are tested on the version you will be examined on, not on what the model remembers.
  • Format. One question at a time, with feedback that quotes the line that settles it, turns reading into practice at recalling, which is what makes material stick.
  • If unsure. Points where the material is ambiguous or contradicts itself are left out of the quiz and listed for checking instead of being marked one way.

How to use it

  1. Press Fill in variables and type your details into each blank. What you type stays in this browser.
  2. Copy the filled prompt into the AI tool you already use, such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, or open it in the Grader or the Prompt Tester here.
  3. Before you rely on it, try it on three or four real examples. The Prompt Tester runs them all at once and shows which ones go wrong.
